- 1962: After independence of Algeria
"Muwahidun (Unitarian) opposition community " had emerged
under the initiative and leadership of Sheikh Mahfoudh
Nahnah and Sheikh Mohamed Bouslimani (may Allah have mercy
on them) to disseminate Islamic mission and linking national
independence to its islamic dimension.
- 1976: Following the Socialist constitutional amendment
"Muwahidun community " revolted and distributed fiery
leaflets entitled "To where Boumediene ? ", leading to
Enraging the regime and pushing it to terrorize the symbols
of Islamic tide and arrested Sheikh Nahnah, and the Members
of his group, who were known for their activities in
universities and populated neighborhoods and were sentenced
to prison for between 01 and 15 years.
- 1978: President Houari Boumediene died and the system
wings entered undeclared conflict ended with the election of
Mr. Chadli Bendjedid as the president of Republic for more
than 13 years (1979-1992).
- 1981: Sheikh Nahnah and his group left the prison on
presidential amnesty and President Bendjedid allowed some
sort of fundamental freedoms.
- 1988: The 5th of October1988's tragic events broke out,
causing the issue of the 23 February 1989 Constitution that
opened the door for constitution of parties and
associations, Sheikh Mahfoudh Nahnah and his fellows
initiated to form a charity association called "Irchah Wa
Islah - National Association Of Guidance And Reform" that
has played a prominent role in leading events and sponsoring
cultural and social side before the birth of the Algerian
parties.
- 6 December 1990: Sheikh Mahfoudh Nahnah and his fellows
declared the intention of founding a new political party for
the sake of defending itself against the threats internally
and externally (through systematic excellence), and
announced the birth of (the Islamic society movement) HMS.
- 29 may, 1991: movement activists (the Movement of the
society of peace) held the first party conference and
adopted the basic law and the internal rules and regulations
governing the political track and elected Sheikh Mahfoud
Nahnah, head of the movement.
- 1994: The movement Participated in " The National
reconciliation symposium" that brought Mr. Liamine Zeroual
as head of State, and set the Transitional National Council
as the first movement's political participation in power
structures and governance. The MSP the internationalization
of the Algerian crisis, when some parties went to San Egidio
seminar in Italy and worked towards it.
- 1995: HMS presented its candidate for the Presidency of
the Republic, Mr. Mahfoudh nahnah, and gained the second
place 3.2 million votes and 25% of the stated votes.
- 1996: The movement entered the government, with two
cabinet ministers, as the first experience entering Algerian
Islamists to the Executive system.
- 1997: The movement participated in the first multiparty
parliamentary elections, after ceasing the electoral path in
1992 and in local (municipal and State), and its portion was
less than its real value because of the fraud that affected
the election process , got 71 seats in Parliament and about
1,100 locally elected Members, and 24 municipalities runned
by the movement. Due to this percentage the number of
ministers rose to 7 portfolios.
- 1998:The Movement of The Society of peace held its second
National Conference in March 1998, at Club of Pines, in
Algeries, under the slogan "peace and development", which
devoted a participation procedure and deepened moderation
line and supported the need to establish a political
coalition to help in pulling the country out of its crisis,
and elected Sheikh Nahnah, for the second time as Chairman
of the movement.
- 1999: The early presidential elections were held and seven
candidates engaged in them in the absence of Sheikh Nahnah
(who was eliminated of the race by the constitutional
counsel for a lack of a membership certificate in 1954
Revolution). With this bitter exclusion — and preferring the
public interest to the partisan interest —Sheikh Mahfoudh
Nahnah had an honorable attitude, towards the Presidencies,
he forgave those who excluded him, and caused his exclusion,
and signed a the agreement of the coalition : between the
National Liberation Front (FLN), the National Democratic
Alliance (RND), Renaissance movement (NAHDA) and the
movement of the society of peace, to support the candidature
of Mr. Bouteflika in the presidential race, fearing of
falling Algeria into the hands of the uprooting Secularists,
or return to the spiral of violence again, and Bouteflika
has won the Presidency by an overwhelming majority.
- 2002: Parliamentary elections were held, and local
elections, in the same year, punctuated by some excesses and
deflected by fraudsters and movement won by 38
parliamentarians, and 30 municipalities and approximately
1,200 locally elected, as for portfolios have qualitatively
improved and kept the same number (4 ministries) labour and
social protection, small and medium-sized enterprises,
fishing and fishing resources, and Civil engineering.
• 19 (June) 2003: founder of the movement of the society of
peace Sheikh Nahnah (may Allah have mercy on him) went to
his final resting place after obstinate illness , leaving a
clear procedure, coherent group, and experience in the last
stages of maturity.
- 08 (August) 2003: The third National Conference of the
movement was held and Sheikh Abujerra Soltani was elected to
replace Sheikh Mahfoud Nahnah, and in his first sermon as
the second Chairman of the movement, he promised four
fundamental commitments:
• He will be faithful to Sheikh Mahfoudh Nahnah's line, and
moderation method.
• He would not deviate from the line of participation that
rejects the policy of “empty chair” (Refrain), and rejects
also exclusive power and authority, and he advocated
embodying the slogan "everyone set Algeria free and everyone
will build it ".
• He is morally and politically engaged to fulfill all
covenants, agreements and charters, known in the movement's
moral and literature, and adding some improvements required
by phase circumstances.
• He will make additional efforts to take the movement from
foundation circumstances to institution’s phase.
- 08 April 2004: The third multipartisan presidential
elections were held and The National Consultative Council
chose to upgrade the party coalition to a presidential
Alliance based on "Charter" and after an electoral process,
the candidate of national reconciliation, Mr. Abdulaziz
Bouteflika, won a large majority that was 84.99%.
- 2005:The movement participated in the referendum on the
Charter of peace and national reconciliation as an essential
dose of tackling the crisis once and for all.
- 2006 :The Movement launches " Stop Corruption "
initiative, to share in facing the growing phenomenon of
corruption and bribery.
- 2007: The parliamentary and local elections were held and
the movement won 51 parliamentarians, 105 municipalities and
3 Wilaya councils (States), the movement contributed to
submit proposals for draft laws during the parliamentary
period (2002-2007) and the second period (2007–2012) such
as:
• The call for ending the emergency State that was applied
since 1992.
• A draft law of amending and supplementing Act No. 91/31,
concerning the associations.
• A draft law of amending and supplementing Ordinance No.
66/156 that includes ending the penal law that was applied
on the journalist and the imam.
• The draft law on fight smoking.
• The draft law establishes general rules concerning the
social character of housing.
• The draft law includes the establishment of deposits and
credits to develop the economic initiative (investments and
job creation).
• Draft law of micro loans.
• Draft law of children rights.
- 2007: The movement also gained in local elections, with
1800 elected members, the presidency of 105 municipalities
with majority,for the first time, presideny of three wilaya
counsel boards (State parliament) (Oued Souf, Bechar,
Tindouf)
- 2007: The movement contributed in the establishment of the
International Quds Foundation Branch and actively
participated in the conference of International Quds
Institution and helped opening a branch. and made the
Palestinian issue one of its priorities.
- 2008 : The movement organized the fourth National
Conference, with presence of 1,400 delegates, the mandate
was renewed for the head of the movement Sheikh Abujerra
Soltani. Under the slogan "towards a new stage"
- 19 June 2009: The movement organized the largest public
gathering in the “ 20th August” Stadium in the capital, in
the sixth anniversary of the loss of chairman Sheikh
Mahfoudh Nahnah, attended by more than 25,000 activists and
supporters, they express their support for the movement 's
project , legitimacy , leadership , Line and its
institutions. The MSP founded the party youth organization
(CHAMS “youth of the society of peace” and Jil Tarjih
“future leaders of the movement)
26 Mar 2010: The movement launched the political and
leadership rehabilitation project for women through the
annual international forum for women condition and family.
- May 25, 2010:The movement participated in the Liberty
Flotilla 1, with Algerian and international activists, on an
Algerian ship "Dafna ship " to put an end to siege on Gaza
and 32 participants from Algeria, including five women faced
with piracy and arrest in the international waters of the
Mediterranean Sea on 31 May, 2010 by the Israeli army.
- 20 June 2010:The movement celebrated the seventh
anniversary of the loss of its founder and allocate it, to
the theme of resistance, and on this occasion it organized
the largest gathering in the “ 20 August” Stadium in Algiers
.
- 03 Oct 2010:The movement participated in the lifeline
convoy 5, going to Gaza, from October 21 to 24, 2010. with
the participation of more than 120 Algerians, including 9
women .
- October 25 to November 10, 2010 : The movement leadership
visited Mauritania (Hosted by Tawassoul Party) and Morocco
(Hosted by PJD Party) and met with Officials and party
members .
- 16 January 2011 : Following the events of protests in
Algeria at January 04th 2011, The Movement of the Society of
peace initiated a political project and shared it with the
President of the Republic, and Parties represented in
Parliament by the Algerian Parliament as well as to the
President of the national people's Assembly and the Council
nation, federations, trade unions, national associations, as
well as Ministers, dealing with the social front, Business
associations and academicians.
- 11-12 March 2011 : The movement held" the national
prospective symposium", under the new developments in Arab
region, after the revolution of jasmine in Tunisia and the
Egyptian revolution, with the participation of party
leaders, and representatives of the movement's institutions
in addition to the competencies and professors, to think
about future positions and the movement's options.
